On Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Saint Mary the Virgin, one of the few fixed-date feasts that take precedence over a Sunday in the Church's year. Putting aside all the theological debates about the meaning of 'the Virgin', one of the key values we celebrate in this feast is the importance of our 'yes' and our 'no' to the questions and opportunities God puts before us. While we tend to think most upon the 'yes', saying 'no' may be as faithful a response.
