“I am deeply convinced that the necessity to pray, and to pray unceasingly, is not so much based on our desire for God as on God’s desire for us. It is God’s passionate pursuit of us that calls us to prayer.”
These words are from Henri Nouwen, 20th century Dutch-born Catholic priest, professor and writer. And so, in an ongoing attempt to listen to God and to respond to God’s desire for us, a monthly Women’s Prayer Group is offered at Holy Trinity Cathedral, the fourth Tuesday of each month, 11:00 a.m. – noon, HTC chapel. The idea of this group grew out of conversation among a few women of the parish with a goal to come together for prayer, for readings both sacred and contemplative, for silence and for reflection.
Jesus said, “For when two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them” (Matt 18:20). Individual prayer is essential in our life as Christians and when we form a Christian community of prayer we can join together and witness God’s compassionate presence in the world and know that God is with us as we pray for our own needs and the needs of our church and of others. We will also grow in our individual relationships with God and Jesus Christ as we experience the Divine in word and silence.
If you are a woman drawn to this idea and have time in your schedule to share a sacred hour please join us. We meet for one hour each month at 11:00 a.m. in the HTC chapel, usually on the fourth Tuesday of the month.
