When we think about the gifts of the Spirit, we are more often than not drawn to the dramatic gifts of speaking in tongues, prophecy and healing. Yet there are other gifts of the Spirit. Paul in Galatians speaks of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The writer of the Letter to the Colossians writes of compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience, as well as love, forgiveness and thankfulness. May God give us the grace to cultivate and nurture these gifts.
