The Psalms have been a source of spiritual nourishment for centuries of Christian tradition. Readers from laity to mystics and monks in contexts from daily devotions to dark nights of the soul have found solace, compassion, inspiration and comfort in the Psalms. Jesus quotes the Psalms often and popular literature refers to images and language derived from the Psalms. Especially in Lent, the Psalms can accompany our spiritual journey.

This series will introduce ways of understanding the poetry and theology of the Psalms both in their ancient context and for interpretation today. Using lectures, slides, and small group formats, the series will help participants will learn about the types of Psalms and give hands-on practice for reading the Psalms with better insight and background.
