For over a decade, the parish has expended time, talent, and treasure towards a vision of redevelopment of our facilities. This involves upgrading our historic cathedral and replacing our current parish hall with a new residential tower that includes gathering and office space for our community. Many of you have been involved in some stage of the development. Many of you have experienced the ups and downs of the possibilities and challenges along the way.
This past week, your property redevelopment committee met with Lisa Helps, coordinator of the BC Builds Housing program. As a result, Holy Trinity Cathedral has been invited to submit a detailed proposal with the goal of receiving a BC Builds Housing Grant and assistance. We are once again exploring the option of constructing affordable rental housing with at least 20% below market. New grants and financing structures make this more feasible now, and all levels of government appear more motivated. The committee will keep the parish apprised of next steps as we explore this in the new year.
We are blessed with our partners from ConWest, Terra Social Housing and the Diocese, and continue to work forward together to build community.
